TransFi alternative that pays users with no TransFi balance
TransFi pays out from a TransFi balance you top up first. With Unigox, a TransFi alternative, your USDT or USDC stays in your partner wallet until your server signs each order into escrow. Keep TransFi for payroll, suppliers and checkout.
When to stay with TransFi
You run payroll or pay suppliers
A TransFi payout goes to any person or business you add as a recipient: a bank account, a mobile wallet, a QR code or a crypto wallet. Unigox pays out for your verified customers. Each payout has one of your customers as its sender, who passes a Unigox identity check. It goes to their own account or to a recipient they registered. It does not pay staff or suppliers from your company's balance.
Your customers pay by card or at checkout
TransFi collects by card, local payment methods, crypto and virtual accounts, and sells a Checkout product for online sales. Through the Unigox Payments API a customer pays only by bank transfer or mobile money, with no card payments or checkout page, and you receive USDT or USDC.
You want credit to cover prefunding
TransFi's Settlement Facility is on-demand liquidity for prefunding and settlement. Unigox pays out only from USDT or USDC you have already sent to your partner wallet.
TransFi and Unigox for paying users from stablecoins
| Topic | TransFi | Unigox |
|---|---|---|
| What funds a payout | Your TransFi balance, which must cover the payout. You top it up by bank transfer from an account registered with TransFi, or by sending a token to a prefund address fixed for that token and network. | USDT or USDC in your partner wallet, topped up in advance. Your server signs each order's amount into on-chain escrow. |
| When a payout fails | The money goes back to your TransFi balance, and you create a new order with a new reference. | A funded payout that stops keeps the stablecoin in escrow until your server signs the refund back to your partner wallet. A webhook tells you a refund is waiting, and the stopped order is not charged. |
| A user cashing out crypto | Off-ramp: the user sends crypto to a deposit address TransFi issues for that order, on the network shown, and TransFi pays local money to the user's account. It never touches your balance. | The stablecoin leaves your partner wallet for that order's escrow, and a payment business connected to Unigox or a P2P merchant pays the user's bank or mobile money account. You can limit an order to payment businesses. |
| Rate and fees | No price list on transfi.com. A rates call per order type returns the rate and the fees separately, and the rate is valid from when you request it, not from when your customer sees it. | The Unigox fee depends on the currency and payment method. Each quote shows the rate, that fee, the percentage you add for yourself, and the total. |
| End-user checks | Users are verified before they fund an order, and a higher level is asked for as volume grows. You verify them on a TransFi-hosted page, import a Sumsub check, or send documents you collected. | Each customer passes a Unigox check: ID document and selfie, reuse of an eligible Sumsub or Persona check, or a Unigox verification link. |
| Testing and keys | Sign up and test in the sandbox at once, without KYB. Production needs KYB. HTTP Basic authentication plus a merchant ID header on every request. | KYB first, then a sandbox with the same endpoints as production. Requests carry an X-API-Key header. |
Switch user payouts from TransFi in three steps
Book a call and verify your company
Read the API reference and book a call to agree your markets and setup, then pass Unigox KYB with registration, ownership and source-of-funds documents. A TransFi KYB approval does not carry over. Unigox sends API credentials after it approves your company.
Turn a TransFi payout order into a Unigox order
Where you created one TransFi payout order against your balance, request a Unigox quote, create the order, then sign its stablecoin transfer on your server. Users already verified with Sumsub or Persona can reuse an eligible check.
Fund the partner wallet instead of a prefund address
Test payouts and refunds in the sandbox, switch to the production key, and send USDT or USDC to your partner wallet rather than to TransFi's prefund address.
TransFi API, OTC desk and competitor questions
What is TransFi, and which part of it can Unigox replace?
TransFi is a stablecoin payments company: one API for collections, payouts, on and off ramp and checkout, plus BizPay, an OTC Desk and a Settlement Facility, sold to remittance and payroll firms, PSPs, exchanges and merchants. Unigox replaces one part: paying your own users local money by bank or mobile money from USDT or USDC, and turning their local deposits back into stablecoins in your partner wallet.
See the Payments APIHow does the TransFi API differ from the Payments API?
TransFi authenticates with HTTP Basic and a merchant ID header, pays out from your TransFi balance, and opens its sandbox before KYB. Unigox uses an X-API-Key header, opens the sandbox after KYB and setup, and has your server sign each stablecoin transfer into escrow. A Unigox quote lists the rate, the Unigox fee, your own fee and the total.
Does Unigox run an OTC desk like TransFi's?
For euro and pound trades, yes. Unigox OTC deals convert EUR or GBP to stablecoins and back: you give the team the currencies, amount and destination, confirm at the fee agreed before your first deal, and the deal is recorded in your Business Portal. TransFi's OTC Desk advertises bespoke pricing, spread validation controls and settlement in several tranches.

BVNK, Banxa, Transak and Conduit also sell stablecoin payouts or on and off ramps to businesses, and we compare each of them with Unigox on its own page. Which one fits depends on whether you pay your own users, pay suppliers and staff, or collect by card.
