Newton Crypto alternative for selling the USDT you hold

Newton does not carry USDT and cannot retrieve USDT sent to a Newton address. For that USDT, Unigox is a Newton crypto alternative: a buyer pays your bank for it. For USDC or bitcoin, stay with Newton.

When to stay with Newton

  • You sell USDC for Canadian dollars

Newton trades USDC against CAD for 1.00% to 1.15% at its standard tier, shown while you trade. Interac e-Transfer and EFT withdrawals are free. On Unigox the rate comes from the buyer, with the Unigox fee inside. For USDC, or USDT you can first turn into native USDC on a network Newton supports, price both on the same day.

  • You trade a million dollars or more a year

Newton cuts its fee by trailing 365-day volume, with no application. On bitcoin, ether and USDC it is 0.85% from $1 million, 0.50% from $2 million and 0.05% from $5 million, against 1.00% to 1.15% at the standard tier.

  • You want a CIRO dealer and CIPF on your cash

Newton Crypto Ltd. is a CIRO dealer member. CIPF can cover eligible cash in Canadian or US dollars, generally up to $1 million, if the dealer fails; it never covers crypto.

What it isA Canadian crypto trading platform: you fund it with Canadian dollars, buy and sell coins against CAD, and withdraw to your bank.A stablecoin marketplace where a P2P merchant or a payment business buys your USDT and sends local money in return.
USDTNot carried. USDT is on neither Newton's list of CAD pairs nor its network list, and Newton says a deposit of a coin it does not carry cannot be retrieved.Sold as it is, with no swap into another coin first. It can come in from an outside wallet or an exchange.

Money to your bankSell for CAD, then withdraw for free: Interac e-Transfer up to $10,000 a transaction and $50,000 a week, with the e-Transfer email within 2 hours, or EFT within 1 business day.Whoever buys your USDT, a P2P merchant or a payment business, sends the money to your bank. During a trade the crypto sits in an on-chain escrow that Unigox can release only to the buyer or the seller.
RegulationNewton Crypto Ltd. is a FINTRAC-registered money services business and a CIRO dealer member. CIPF covers cash balances, not crypto.Unigox works through two companies: UNIGOX NETWORK CORP. in Canada handles the local-money side and is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business and with the Bank of Canada as a payment service provider; UNIGOX NETWORK CORP. in Panama handles the crypto side, including wallets and escrow.

Moving your USDT sales from Newton to Unigox

  1. Sign up and verify

Create a Unigox account and pass the identity check, which Unigox asks for before the first sale at any amount.

  2. Give the payer your Unigox address

Share your Unigox USDT deposit address on Tron, BNB Smart Chain or another network the deposit screen lists. A Newton address is the wrong place for USDT.

  3. Sell the USDT from your Unigox balance

Choose the currency of your bank account, add its details and check what a buyer pays for your amount before you confirm. On a P2P sale the USDT stays in escrow until the money lands.

Newton Crypto questions: USDT, fees and protection

Is there a Newton crypto alternative for selling USDT?

Yes, for USDT. Newton lists no USDT pair, so USDT you are paid in has no market there. Unigox takes the USDT as it is, and a P2P merchant or a payment business buys it and pays your bank. Unigox trades stablecoins only, so for bitcoin or ether, and for USDC at Newton's fee, stay with Newton.

What fees does Newton Crypto charge to sell and withdraw?

At the standard tier, bitcoin, ether and USDC cost 1.00% to 1.15% per trade; Litecoin, Solana and Stellar 1.25% to 1.45%; other coins 1.50% to 1.60%. Your exact rate appears during the trade. Interac e-Transfer and EFT withdrawals of Canadian dollars are free.

Is Newton Crypto regulated, and what does CIPF cover there?

Newton Crypto Ltd. is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business (M19607029) and is a CIRO dealer member. If it failed, CIPF could cover eligible Canadian or US dollar cash, generally up to $1 million. Crypto held on Newton is not covered.

What happens if USDT is sent to a Newton address?

Newton's help centre says it cannot retrieve a deposit of a coin it does not carry, or of any coin sent on a network it does not support, and gives BNB Smart Chain as the example. Make sure whoever pays you in USDT has your Unigox address.

Get a rate for USDT that Newton will not take

Newton gives USDT no price at all. Enter an amount on Unigox to see the rate with the fee inside, and compare it with a USDC sale on Newton if you hold both.
