SpherePay alternative for local-currency payouts outside the US, Europe and Brazil
SpherePay pays by ACH, wire, SEPA and PIX, not mobile money. Unigox is a SpherePay alternative for apps paying customers in local currency by bank or mobile money, from USDT or USDC. Keep Sphere for US, euro and Brazilian payouts.
When to stay with SpherePay
Your payees bank in dollars, euros or reais
Sphere turns stablecoins into USD by ACH or wire, EUR by SEPA and BRL by PIX. The wire is the one rail that shows your business name on the payee's statement. Unigox does not currently offer its services in the United States, where Sphere processes a wire the same day when it is received before 5 pm EST.
Customers pay you by US or euro bank transfer
Sphere's Onramper Accounts give each customer a virtual bank account; ACH, wire or SEPA deposits become USDC or USDT in the customer's wallet with no API call per deposit. On Unigox, accounts in a customer's own name come in EUR and GBP, on request after your company passes KYB.
See business accounts in EuropeThe money goes to suppliers, not your users
Sphere supports payments from your business to a supplier, vendor or contractor, with a payment purpose and, for a SWIFT payout, a supporting document. Unigox pays suppliers and other third parties only on supported routes it confirms before integration. Otherwise each payee is a customer of yours who has passed a Unigox identity check.
SpherePay vs the Unigox Payments API on stablecoin payouts
| Topic | SpherePay | Unigox |
|---|---|---|
| Payout currencies | USD by ACH, same-day ACH and wire, or by SWIFT to an international bank account; EUR by SEPA; BRL by PIX. No mobile money rail is listed, and Mexican pesos only come in, converted to USD. | The customer's local currency, paid to a bank or mobile money account in their own name, in the markets the Payments API serves. |
| Sending the stablecoins | Each transfer returns its own deposit instructions and is matched by memo. An Offloader Wallet gives a customer a fixed address that turns incoming USDC or USDT into a payout to a linked bank account, without webhooks. | USDT or USDC sits in your partner wallet. Your server signs each order's transfer into on-chain escrow, and a funded payout that stops goes back to the wallet. |
| Customer checks | Each customer who sends or receives a transfer is verified and approved before money moves, through the API or a hosted KYC or KYB link, with Sumsub running the identity step. Typical review: 0 to 2 business days for a person, 2 to 7 for a business. | Each customer passes a Unigox identity check: ID document and selfie, a reused Sumsub or Persona check, or a Unigox verification link. |
| Pricing | No public price list. A rate-locked quote, valid for 30, 60 or 300 seconds, shows the rate and the fee split into Sphere's platform fee and your integrator fee before the transfer. You set your integrator fee in basis points, a fixed amount or both. On BRL transfers it is basis points only. | Each quote shows the fee for that currency and payment method, your own fee and the total. An order that does not complete is not charged. |
| Testing | No separate sandbox: integrations are tested in production with real identity data, and Sphere asks for a small live transfer on each corridor before launch. | A sandbox with the same endpoints as production, plus a Postman collection and signing examples, once KYB and setup are done. |
| Regulation | Sphere Laboratories, Inc. (Dover, Delaware) says in its terms that it is not a bank; money transmission and other regulated services reached through it are run by partner financial institutions, which hold the funds. | Unigox works through two companies: UNIGOX NETWORK CORP. in Canada handles the local-money side and is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business and with the Bank of Canada as a payment service provider; UNIGOX NETWORK CORP. in Panama handles the crypto side, including wallets and escrow. |
Move local currency payouts from SpherePay in three steps
Name where customers want local money
List the countries where your customers want local money instead of a USD wire and agree them with us on a call, then send your company documents for Unigox KYB. A Sphere approval does not carry over.
Replace your wallet-to-bank transfer
Where your code creates a Sphere transfer from a wallet to a bank account, ask Unigox for a quote and create an order your server signs from the partner wallet. Build it against the sandbox first.
Check customers and fund the wallet
Run each customer through the Unigox identity check, reusing an eligible Sumsub or Persona check where you have one. Top up the partner wallet with USDT or USDC, then move your calls from the sandbox to production.
Questions about SpherePay alternatives
Which SpherePay alternative pays out in local currency?
Unigox, for an app whose verified customers want their own currency in a bank or mobile money account, paid from USDT or USDC. Sphere pays out in US dollars, euros and Brazilian reais; keep it for ACH, wire, SEPA and PIX.
What is Sphere Pay?
SpherePay is the stablecoin payments product of Sphere Laboratories, Inc., based in Dover, Delaware. It sells a REST API, a business dashboard, a hosted ramp widget and a Private Desk for large OTC transfers, moving between USD, EUR or BRL and USDC, USDT or EURC.
How does SpherePay charge for a transfer?
Sphere publishes no price list; its terms say fees are disclosed before you use a service. A rate-locked quote shows the rate, Sphere's platform fee and your integrator fee before the transfer. A Unigox quote shows the rate, the Unigox fee, your own fee and the total before the order.
Does SpherePay have a sandbox for testing?
No. Sphere's docs say it keeps no separate sandbox, so testing runs against production with real identity data. Unigox gives a sandbox with the production endpoints after KYB and setup.
