VirgoCX alternative for the USDT it stopped trading
As a VirgoCX alternative, Unigox takes the USDT VirgoCX no longer supports, with no 4-hour deadline: the USDT waits until you accept a buyer's rate, and the buyer pays your bank. For USDC or bitcoin, stay with VirgoCX.
When to stay with VirgoCX
You sell USDC for Canadian dollars
VirgoCX still trades USDC against CAD at a price it quotes as the other side of the trade, with a smaller spread as your 30-day volume grows, and pays out by Interac e-Transfer or wire. A P2P buyer on Unigox sets their own rate, which can sit further from the market.
You buy bitcoin or ether with CAD
VirgoCX sells bitcoin, ether and other coins for CAD sent by Interac e-Transfer, with no deposit fee or minimum, or paid by card at 3.99% for credit and 2.99% for debit. It offers limit, stop-limit and recurring buys, and sends each purchase to the wallet address you set. Unigox trades stablecoins only.

| Topic | VirgoCX | Unigox |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A Canadian platform for buying and selling crypto for Canadian dollars, priced by VirgoCX as the other side of each trade. Its trading service keeps no crypto for clients. | Stablecoins only, sold to a P2P merchant or a payment business that pays you in local money. |
| USDT | VirgoCX no longer supports USDT; USDT left in accounts was converted to Canadian dollars. USDT is not on VirgoCX's coin list. | Stays USDT after it arrives and is sold only when you accept a rate. You can move USDT or USDC between Unigox and an outside wallet before or after a trade. |
| Crypto you send in | Sell or withdraw it within 4 hours, or VirgoCX may sell it at the market price. The CAD from a sale has to be withdrawn or spent within 48 hours. | No time limit: USDT waits in your Unigox Wallet until you sell it or send it out. |
| Money to your bank | Withdraw CAD by Interac e-Transfer, which VirgoCX says it sends instantly, or by wire, which arrives within 1 to 3 business days. | The buyer of your USDT pays the bank account you name. During a trade the crypto sits in an on-chain escrow that Unigox can release only to the buyer or the seller. |
| Fees | A spread built into the price VirgoCX quotes, narrowed by reward tiers based on your last 30 days of trading. Interac e-Transfer deposits are free. | The Unigox fee is inside the rate the buyer offers, shown before you accept. VirgoCX quotes USDC, not USDT, so check both prices on the day you sell. |
| Regulation | Registered with FINTRAC as a money services business (M19955733). VirgoCX says it does not offer its current service as a securities dealer, so investor protections do not apply. | Unigox works through two companies: UNIGOX NETWORK CORP. in Canada handles the local-money side and is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business and with the Bank of Canada as a payment service provider; UNIGOX NETWORK CORP. in Panama handles the crypto side, including wallets and escrow. |
From VirgoCX to a USDT sale on Unigox
Verify your ID before the first sale
Create an account and verify your identity; Unigox asks for it before your first sale, at any amount.
Give out a Unigox address for USDT
Whoever pays you in USDT needs a Unigox deposit address on a network the sell form lists. USDT sent to a VirgoCX address is not credited to your account.
Sell when the rate suits you
Name the bank account to be paid, accept a buyer's rate and confirm once the money lands; there is no deadline to sell. In a P2P sale the USDT sits in escrow until you confirm.
VirgoCX, USDT and fees: questions
Is there a VirgoCX alternative for USDT?
Unigox, for USDT and for selling without VirgoCX's 4-hour deadline. VirgoCX no longer supports USDT. On Unigox you sell it to a buyer who pays your bank, and in a P2P sale the USDT waits in escrow until you confirm the payment. For USDC, or for buying bitcoin and ether with Canadian dollars, VirgoCX still fits better.
What does VirgoCX charge to buy and sell?
VirgoCX earns a spread built into the price it quotes, and the spread narrows as your 30-day trading volume moves you up its reward tiers. Interac e-Transfer deposits have no fee and no minimum. Card purchases cost 3.99% on credit and 2.99% on debit, at least $1. A rejected e-Transfer costs $10.
Is VirgoCX regulated, and does it still hold crypto for you?
VirgoCX Inc. is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business. Its trading service keeps no crypto for clients: what you buy is sent to the wallet address you set, about 10 minutes after the trade. VirgoCX says it does not offer this service as a securities dealer, so you are not protected as an investor.
What happens to USDT sent to a VirgoCX deposit address?
VirgoCX no longer supports USDT, and it says a coin it has delisted does not appear in your account when sent in. VirgoCX support can try to retrieve a coin it used to list for a fee of 200 USDC per transaction, and aims to give an update within 7 to 10 business days.
Check a USDT price, then decide when to sell
Unigox shows what your USDT sells for, with its fee inside, before you accept a buyer. Nothing is sold until you do.
